Disclaimer 1: Trabalho para um ISP - Quem souber qual é, sabe. Quem não souber, não interessa. Não importa. Estou a ser isento e a não atirar pedras quando posso ter telhados de vidro daqui a uns tempos.

Disclaimer 2: BitTorrent é um sistema de transferência de dados avançado e que permite optimizar e distribuir a carga entre vários nós de rede. Tal como praticamente todas as coisas no mundo, pode ser usado para fins legais e para fins ilegais. Deixo ao vosso critério a escolha. Mas não façam logo juízos precipitados.

A Google lançou há uns tempos um conjunto de ferramentas que permite despistar problemas comuns nas ligações internet, em colaboração com o instituto Max Planck. Podem obter mais informações sobre estas ferramentas em http://www.measurementlab.net/measurement-lab-tools

Particularizando, e sendo eu consumidor e tendo interesse em ter as melhores condições técnicas e a melhor relação qualidade/preço no produto que uso, "preocupa-me" que existam ISPs que limitem ou que de certa forma filtrem ou degradem o acesso a determinados conteúdos.

É aqui que entra o BitTorrent.
O interesse desta pequena "sondagem" é que corram um pequeno teste na vossa ligação. Irá simular uma transferência de dados peer to peer, verificar se existem degradações visíveis e fará uma estimativa da velocidade de transferência efectiva.

Apesar do teste dizer que os meus uploads estão limitados, eu sei que não estão, pois uso o Utorrent consigo fazer uploads de 110KBytes...

É inconclusivo...

Cá por casa não há limites... Mas houve uma altura em que cada vez que ligava a mula, ao desligar, o router bloqueava. Tinha de fazer um "hard reset" para poder ter net outra vez...

Clix ADSL 12Mb no meu PC, em rede wi-fi. O acesso no portátil da minha mulher é normalmente MUITO melhor! Do estilo, download no Megaupload com 200Kbs no meu e mais de 700Kbs no dela... Quanto a uploads nunca reparei nas diferenças. Mais tarde tento testar também nesse.
